In visual perception a color is almost never seen as it really is - as it physically is. This fact makes color the most relative medium in art.

I married my high school sweetheart after we graduated college. We were both 22 and starting our careers as teachers. We had been dating since our freshman year of high school and had never dated anyone else. He was all I knew, but I had no doubt that he was the one for me. We were best friends, lovers and soul mates. Well, that’s what I thought anyway.

We had a beautiful wedding on the beach, with all of our friends and family in attendance. We wrote our own vows and recited them with tears in our eyes. I knew this was the man I would be with forever.

After being married for less than a year I got pregnant with our oldest son. We later had three more sons and I stayed home to take care of the boys while my husband worked his way up to becoming a high school principal. Life was wonderful, I had a family who I loved more than the world itself and a husband who gave me nightly foot massages, cooked dinner on the weekends and never failed to remember a birthday or anniversary. I thought I had it made.

Then, one cool spring evening, I received a phone call. My husband was out back mowing the lawn and his cell phone rang. I answered it for him, and the woman on the other end asked who I was. I demanded to know who she was, but she hung up. I tried to tell myself it was a wrong number or a misunderstanding but something inside of me screamed suspicion. I deleted the number from his call list and never mentioned it.

For weeks I couldn’t get that woman’s voice out of my head so I eventually gave in and called a private investigator. I had confided in one of my good friends and she recommended I hire a private eye. I felt so silly making the call and setting it up, my husband loved me and look how far I was going based on a silly suspicion. But I did it. I hired the private investigator and three days later he called me in for a meeting.

The private investigator had pictures and phone call recordings. My suspicions had been dead on. My husband was cheating on me. Turns out he was actually cheating on me with one serious girlfriend and many not so serious flings. He did not have a school meeting every Wednesday and he did not go bowling on Thursdays. These were his date nights with his girlfriend.

I asked the private eye to continue his work and he reported back with photographs of my husband at strip bars and even picking up a prostitute on the side of the road! I was disgusted and devastated. I paid the investigator for his work and went to meet my husband, armed with all the evidence.

When I showed my husband the pictures he laughed. Yes, he laughed! He thought it was funny that he had been caught and asked if he should move out. I told him yes and stormed out. That was the last time I saw my husband. Our divorce will be legal in a few months.
